The Smiths are among the 15 nominees for next year's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
The 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame will take place next April in New York. The final induction list will be confirmed in December.
Alongside The Smiths on the longlist are Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, The Cars, Chaka Khan, Chic, The JB's, Janet Jackson, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, NWA, Nine Inch Nails, The Spinners and Yes.
Chic have been nominated 10 times in the past, while NWA have been longlisted four times in the past.
Fans can vote for the act they want to be inducted online, with the public's choice making up one of the overall final choices.
Each year, six acts are inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. 2015 saw Joan Jett, Lou Reed, Green Day, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Bill Withers inducted. In 2014 there were inductions for Nirvana, Kiss, Cat Stevens, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates and Linda Ronstadt.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has played host to many reunions over the year, including Led Zeppelin, Cream, Talking Heads, The Police and Nirvana, who performed with special guest vocalists Lorde, St Vincent, Kim Gordon and Joan Jett in 2014.
