One man has been shot dead and four others have gunshot injuries following a shooting at a T.I. concert in New York.
Support act Maino And Uncle Murda were performing when shots were fired at the third-floor VIP area of the Irving Plaza club at 10.15pm last night (May 25).
It’s currently unclear what led to the shooting, but police are reportedly studying footage of the suspect from the venue’s CCTV cameras.
Juliet Vahos, a fan at the concert, told Rolling Stone she heard what sounded like two shots being fired but that people around her were saying “It’s just a fight.” But, 30 seconds later, Vahos heard “multiple gunshots” being fired, which led to fans trying to flee the venue.
The victim is believed to be an as-yet-unidentified 34-year-old who was fatally shot in the chest. Another 34-year-old man is in a critical condition after being shot in the abdomen.
The other two injured in the shootings were shot in the leg. These include rapper Troy Ave, a rapper from New York’s Crown Heights area, who has released the albums ‘New York City: The Album’ and ‘Major Without A Deal’. Ave’s singles have featured the likes of Rick Ross, Ty Dolla Sign, 50 Cent and Raekwon.
According to local TV station Pix11, fans were using other people as shields to try to avoid being shot.
By 11pm, the Irving Plaza had been evacuated and police had declared the scene as safe.
